Top Students to be featured speakers at Saturday graduation

Lennox High School will hold graduation ceremonies on Saturday, May 10 at 10 a.m. at the high school gymnasium. As the Class of 2014 prepares for commencement, the top two students are preparing their speeches for the event. Audra Meyer has been named the class Valedictorian. Katelyn Hinker is the class Salutatorian.
“Audra and Katelyn exemplify what all students should strive to be at the conclusion of their high school career,” said LHS Principal Tim Raabe. “They have enriched our activity programs through their participation while holding academic excellence as a priority.  They are truly leaders as demonstrated through their thoughts, words, and deeds.”
Audra attributes her academic success to her parents, Kathy and Doug Meyer.

Safe Routes to School program provides safety class, bikes, helmets to elementary students

On April 30, 35 surprised and happy elementary students were presented with new TREK bikes and helmets, 60 students were given helmets and each student received a Lennox Orioles water bottle. This event was made possible with Lennox Elementary’s participation in the South Dakota Safe Routes to School program. 
Students in grade JK to 5th grade were asked to write a persuasive essay telling why they needed or deserved a new bike.  Once all of the essays were collected, a team of teachers read through them and decided who the bikes would be rewarded to.  Two students from each classroom were selected.
