Lennox mill levy to go down

By Debbie Schmidt
Lennox City Council passed a budget on Sept. 24 that would lower the City’s mill levy from 12.172 to 9.81, giving property owners a significant decrease in their property taxes. The council was able to bring the mill levy down by bringing down the expenditures and by now having Wilson Trailer on the tax rolls.
“As a council, we have targeted this— we’ve worked hard to do it and we’ve achieved it,” said Tracy West, who is chairman of the Finance Committee.  “[The finance committee] checked everything and then we double checked it.”
“I hear that so much—that our mill levy is too high—that we have to get our mill levy down to get new homes and businesses in,” said Mayor Orville Wiebers.
