Online attacks: School addresses cyberbullying

Last week, both parents and students at Lennox High School were made aware of a danger in the technology age—cyberbullying.  Cyberbullying is when a child or teen is threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another child or teen using interactive technologies, the internet or mobile phones. 
Lennox School District has been seeing an increasing number of reports of bullying via social networking sites, said Joann Huber, Lennox High School Counselor.  
“If it interferes with teaching and kids are upset—that’s where we step in,” she said.

Local veteran awarded French Legion of Honor medal

World War II veteran Verlyn Hofer was honored recently with the French Legion of Honor medal, appointing him a “Chevalier” of the French Legion of Honor.
A letter from French Ambassador Francois Delattre announced the award. The letter explained that the award was “a sign of France’s infinite gratitude and appreciation for your personal and precious contribution to the United States’ decisive role in the liberation of our country during World War II.”
