Waterfall feature adds beauty to golf course

Water cascades over the granite rock, flows down a rock-lined riverbed and into the pond below. Golfers will be able to enjoy this beautiful element at the Lenkota Country Club golf course thanks to the vision and hard work of Randy Fletcher, his wife Glenda, and volunteers who have helped along the way.
Randy Fletcher was the grounds keeper at the Lenkota from 1978 to 1986 and came back to the job again in 2004, when he retired from teaching in the Lennox School System.
The waterfall project has been in Randy’s head for several years, especially after the golf club put in a well that brought in 100 plus gallons of water a minute in 2009.

Highway ditch closures proposed near Lennox/Chancellor

The South Dakota Department of Transportation is proposing a closure to off-road vehicles on a segment of ditches between Lennox and Chancellor on Highway 44.
The areas on Highway 44 that may be placed off-limits include both eastbound and westbound ditches from Highway 17 to 461st Avenue in the town of Chancellor (mile marker 400.77 to mile marker 406.32)
Off-road vehicles have damaged vegetation and caused ditch erosion in those locations. The proposed closures were initiated by a local request and have the concurrence of the South Dakota Department of Transportation.
