Remembering those who served

Lennox Program
As has been the case in Lennox for most of a century, the annual Memorial Day service will be held on the national holiday which is next Monday, May 27. Brethorst-Burma American Legion Post 174 will again be in charge of the service.
According to Post Commander Scott Ford, the program will again be held at the Legion Community Hall, beginning at 7 p.m. with Rev. Ryan Arkema bringing the message. Rev. Arkema is pastor of the Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church.

Chancellor Program
American Legion Post 283 of Chancellor will hold a Memorial Day Service at 9:30 a.m. at the Chancellor Reformed Church on Monday, May 27. The Post invites the public to “take time out to recognize those who served and are still serving.”

Worthing Program
Memorial Day Service for the Wm. R. Bradshaw Post No. 177 of Worthing will be held on Monday, May 27th at 10 a.m. at the Worthing Civic Center. Post Commander of Post #177 is Lyle Devitt.
Helen Sweeter will be the pianist for the Memorial Day Service and Pastor Maribeth Anderson will provide the Invocation and Benediction.
Speaker for the service will be Dr. Robert Mayer, Superintendent of the Lennox School District.

Koosman, Bainbridge claim Region 4A titles

Zach Koosman claimed the Region 4A Championship title last Thursday, May 16 in both the high jump and triple jump competition. Maisey Bainbridge also claimed the Region title in the 3200 meter run. Both Koosman and Bainbridge will represent Lennox High School at the 2013 State A Track and Field Meet to be held in Lennox on Friday, May 24 and in Sioux Falls on Saturday, May 25. Other State competitors for LHS include the following athletes: Dereck DeVries, Joe Hendrickson, Tyler Harms, Nathan Timmerman, Austin Weischedel, Josh Friese, Dallas Moore, Trey Furgeson, Kirsten Klinger, Halie Mechels, and Mahli Strasser.
