News update for Feb. 7 issue…


Deployment ceremony held for 235th MP Company

On Saturday morning, the Lennox Fire Department escorted one of their own—Derek Fischer—as he headed to a Rapid  deployment ceremony that was  held for 124 Soldiers of the South Dakota Army National Guard’s 235th Military Police Company at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Stevens High School auditorium in Rapid City.
Three Lennox soldiers are with the 235th—Specialist Derek Fischer, son of Wayne and Amy Fischer; Specialist Korey Relph, son of Robin Matzke; and PFC Alyshia Newell, daughter of Jon and Casey Gesling and Scott Newell.

Legislators speak to local constituents

South Dakota District 6 legislators held their first Legislative coffee in Lennox on Saturday afternoon. At the event was Senator Ernie Otten, Representative Herman Otten, and Representative Isaac Latterell. Speaking to a small group of local constituents, all three legislators talked about their experiences as first-time legislators
Senator Otten, of rural Tea,  is a member of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee, the Taxation Committee and the Transportation Committee.
