Loss of sight opens new doors for Lennox man

“Going blind has kind of ruined my life in one way, but it really opened a lot of doors when I went blind; I mean, my whole life has changed completely—my whole outlook, everything—just changed completely.”
Those are the words of Trevor White, 33, of Lennox who lost his sight nearly three years ago due to diabetes

Lennox ACTION to hold open house Sept. 22


A new women’s group in Lennox wants to take action to improve the community and foster friendship. Lennox ACTION (Achieving Community Togetherness in Our Neighborhoods) was founded by Lennox resident Tina Buhta in April of this year.

Lennox High School to host District 6 Debate


Lennox High School will host a debate with the District 6 candidates on Sept. 24 starting at 7 p.m. in the high school cafetorium.  The debate will include the candidates for the State House and the candidates for the State Senate seats that are up for grabs in the newly formed District 6.

News Preview for issue Sept. 20th


School Board forms planning committee for long term growth solutions


A gas leak in Worthing caused the evacuation of the Worthing Elementary School August 31st. During Monday night’s School Board meeting, Superintendent Dr. Robert Mayer commented on how smoothly the procedure went and thanked all of those involved for their efforts.

Council holds first reading of 2013 budget


Lennox City Council members met in regular session on Monday night.
Following the approval of the agenda, minutes, claims and payroll, David Schonhard presented the finance officer’s report. He said that he is drafting a letter to get state approval to pay off the SRF loans that were approved by the council at last month’s meeting. The council was also given an update of the bank account balances and the debt balances.

News update for Sept. 6 issue


City Council moves budget reading to next meeting

Lennox City Council members met on Monday night for a special meeting. The main purpose of the meeting was to have the first reading of the 2013 Budget, but due to some additions and corrections to the budget it was decided to have the first reading at the next council meeting.

Lennox Fire Department to dedicate memorial


Sunday Sept. 9 at 2 p.m., The Lennox Fire Department will dedicate a memorial to the 403 first responders who lost their lives in the line of duty when the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center were attacked by terrorists.  The memorial includes a cross-shaped piece of steel cut from a steel I beam from the 32nd floor of the north tower.
